Free Bear Safe Guides

IWM can now offer free Bear Safe guides to residents of Washington State and others interested in bears.

The guide contains all kinds of interesting facts about bears for people who live, hike and camp in bear country. Most importantly it provides great tips on ways to prevent bears from becoming nuisance animals. This is often as simple as removing items that may attract bears into humans areas. You may be surprised to hear that these items include bird feeders and compost! By being Bear Safe you are making bear country safer for bears and people.
